Melvin E. McKim, 63, Corydon, died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Robley Rex V.A. Medical Center in Louisville.

Born Nov. 19, 1948, in Corydon, he was the son of the late Ernie Eugene and Addie Bernedeen Cline McKim.

He was a former conductor/engineer with Norfolk Southern Railroad, a member of VFW Old Capitol Post 2950 in Corydon and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife, the former Aida Padilla; a son, Levi McKim of Las Vegas; a daughter, Cassie McKim-Collins of Harker Heights, Texas; three brothers, Michael E., Mitchell W. and Marlon D. McKim, all of Corydon; a sister, Marie Faith of Corydon; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in New Amsterdam Cemetery. Pastor Robyn Kistemaker will officiate. Pallbearers will be Marlon and Josh McKim, Maurice Fisher, Happy Cox, Tim Jones and Carl R. Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Kirkham, Eddie Mathes, Walter Windell, Cova Bates and Frank Bill.

The family suggests memorial to VFW Old Capitol Post 2950 in Corydon or the American Cancer Society.
