Mary F. Shaffer
Mary Faye Shaffer, 64, New Amsterdam, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at her home.
Born March 7, 1949, in New Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Mary Lucille Crawford Roby.
She was the owner of Shaffer’s General Store in New Amsterdam, a retired clerk-treasurer of New Amsterdam, a retired manager at S&F/Denny’s Carpets in Corydon, a founder of the New Amsterdam Remembrance Days and a member of the Meade County Farmers Market, the Fairview Homemakers Club and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brent Wilson (Fuzzy) Shaffer.
Survivors include two sons, James B. Shaffer of Corydon and Charles A. (Andy) Shaffer of New Amsterdam; two daughters, Marci A. Bailey of Buchanan, Tenn., and JoAnna L. Barks of New Amsterdam; a sister, Brenda Skaggs of Elizabeth; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Visitation: Wednesday, Oct. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 4, after 9 a.m. at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Funeral: Friday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in the New Amsterdam Cemetery.
Officiant: Pastor Betty Sieberns.
Pallbearers: Stevie Emily, Les Cotner, Gary Lynn Ripperdan, Chris Ripperdan, Jimmy Bliss and Shawn Williams.
